To clean your granite top, a few drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water can be used. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks. Rinse the surface thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Change the rinse water frequently. Refrain from using abrasive cleaners that will scratch the top.
Clean spills following normal cleaning procedures immediately.
Hot items should not be placed directly onto the surface of your top. Trivets or hot pads should be placed under hot dishes or heat generating appliances. To ensure ultimate performance of your top, cutting directly on the deck of your surface should be avoided. Cutting boards should be used to prevent any unsightly scratches. Placemats should be placed between china, ceramics, silver and other abrasive objects to help prevent scratches and blemishes.
Unlike other natural stones, soapstone is non-porous and does not require sealing.
At the discretion of the consumer, application of a surface enhancement, such as a mineral oil, can be applied to bring out a dramatic color variation of the soapstone. The mineral oil should be applied by following the manufacturer's recommendations. It is not required to place a surface enhancer on your soapstone, as it is entirely a personal preference.
